About project

The topic of the project is actual and in developed countries of the world modern and researched topic. A lot of karst areas with significant manmade land use is attacking by desertification and carbon cycles changes. Exactly during karstification the CO2 is fixed. It is important greenhouse gas and to this process enters from the atmosphere or soil. To the present time CO2 content was analyzed in the water as a secondary data. New researches show us, that the karst water is very important medium for CO2. On his content in the karst influence many factors: climatological, hydrological, hydrochemical and biogenous. Significant is also human use and land use of karst areas.

Project on the basis of the international cooperation between IRCK in China and Institute of Geography UPJŠ in Košice studies the carbon cycle in our climate conditions, CO2 content in the karst water and human land use of the model areas in Slovak karst and Guilin karst in China based on the hydrochemical methods. These areas are different from climatological point of view and because of this Slovakia will have important position in international project and this topic research all over the world. It will present comparison area for the carbon cycle research.
